History

In 1890, the Eastern Bengal Railway constructed a 1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in)-wide broad-gauge railway from Ballygunge Junction to Budge Budge.[3]

In 2013 the Budge Budge station was renamed as Komagata Maru Budge Budge station to commemorate the martyrs of the Komagata Maru incident who fell to British bullets near the station.[4]

Electrification

Electrification from Ballygunge Junction to Budge Budge was completed with 25 kV AC overhead system in 1965–66.[5]
