La sua inaugurazione risale al 1896, anno in cui divenne ufficialmente operativa la linea M1. Sul percorso della stessa M1, Vörösmarty utca è situata tra le fermate Oktogon e Kodály körönd.

La stazione è ubicata sul territorio del VI distretto, nel punto in cui s'incrociano lo storico viale Andrássy út e l'omonima strada Vörösmarty utca, intitolata al poeta ungherese Mihály Vörösmarty. Le piattaforme si trovano a circa tre metri sotto il livello del suolo.

Vörösmarty utca (Vörösmarty street) is a station of the yellow M1 (Millennium Underground) line of the Budapest Metro. It was opened on 2 May 1896 as part of the inaugural section of the Budapest Metro, between Vörösmarty tér and Széchenyi fürdő.[1] This section, known as the Millennium Underground Railway, was the first metro system in continental Europe. In 2002, it was included into the World Heritage Site "Budapest, including the Banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter and Andrássy Avenue".[2]
