È posizionata sul percorso della linea M1, tra la fermata Hősök tere e il capolinea nord-orientale Mexikói út, e prende il nome dagli omonimi bagni termali che sorgono a poca distanza e intitolati al politico e scrittore ungherese conte István Széchenyi.

La stazione è stata costruita nel 1896 e inizialmente si trovava in superficie ed era uno dei due capolinea della linea. Nel 1973 divenne però operativa una nuova stazione sotterranea e Széchenyi fürdő è stato sostituito come capolinea dalla nuova stazione di Mexikói út.

Le banchine si trovano oggi ad una profondità di circa 10 metri.

Széchenyi fürdő, früher: Artézi fürdő, ist ein am 2. Mai 1896 eröffneter U-Bahnhof der Linie M1 der Metró Budapest und liegt zwischen den Haltestellen Hősök tere und Mexikói út. Er befindet sich am namensgebenden Széchenyi-Heilbad im Stadtwäldchen im Stadtbezirk Zugló, in der Nähe befinden sich die Burg Vajdahunyad und der Zoo. Die Station war ursprünglich oberirdisch und fungierte als Endstation. Die heutige unterirdische Durchgangsstation liegt quer zum ursprünglichen Bauwerk und ging erst am 30. Dezember 1973 anlässlich der Streckenverlängerung zur Mexikói út in Betrieb, 1995 wurde sie im heutigen Zustand modernisiert. Oberirdisch besteht Umsteigemöglichkeit zur Trolleybuslinie 72.

Széchenyi fürdő is a station of the yellow M1 (Millennium Underground) line of the Budapest Metro, located below the Széchenyi Medicinal Bath. The station was opened on 2 May 1896 as the eastern terminus of the inaugural section of the Budapest Metro, between Vörösmarty tér and Széchenyi fürdő.[1] This section, known as the Millennium Underground Railway, was the first metro system in continental Europe. In 2002, it was included into the World Heritage Site "Budapest, including the Banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter and Andrássy Avenue".[2] On 30 December 1973, the line was extended to Mexikói út.[1]
