Yagi Station is served by the San'in Main Line (Sagano Line), and is located 28.2 kilometers from the terminus of the line at Kyoto.
The station consists of two opposed side platforms connected to the station building by a footbridge. The station is staffed.

Yagi Station opened on August 15, 1899. With the privatization of the Japan National Railways (JNR) on April 1, 1987, the station came under the aegis of the West Japan Railway Company. The current station building was completed in April 2021.
In fiscal 2018, the station was used by an average of 1440 passengers daily.[1]
