Storia

La stazione di Rathenauplatz venne attivata il 29 settembre 1990, come capolinea della tratta da Hauptbahnhof della linea U2; rimase capolinea fino al 22 maggio 1993, quando venne attivata la tratta seguente fino alla stazione di Schoppershof. Il 14 giugno 2008, con l'attivazione della linea U3, divenne stazione di diramazione.[1]

Der U-Bahnhof Rathenauplatz (Abkürzung: RA) wurde als 31. U-Bahnhof der Nürnberger U-Bahn am 29. September 1990 eröffnet. Er ist 525 m vom U-Bahnhof Wöhrder Wiese und 611 m vom U-Bahnhof Rennweg bzw. 963 m vom U-Bahnhof Maxfeld entfernt. Bis zum 22. Mai 1993 war er Endbahnhof für die Linie U2, seit 14. Juni 2008 ist er Trennungsbahnhof für die Linien U2 und U3. Der Rathenauplatz ist nach dem Industriellen und ehemaligen Reichsaußenminister Walther Rathenau (1867–1922) benannt. Täglich wird er von rund 31.000 Fahrgästen genutzt.[1]

Rathenauplatz station is a Nuremberg U-Bahn station, located on the U2 and U3. The station is named for the nearby square which was in turn named for the assassinated industrial leader and foreign minister of Germany Walter Rathenau. A portrait of Rathenau adorns the walls of the station and there is also a portrait of the father of Zionism, Theodor Herzl. When traveling in a northerly direction, Rathenauplatz is the last station served by both U2 and U3 and it is therefore a busy interchange station.
