    History


    Sanyo Akashi Station opened on April 12, 1917 as Akashi-ekimae Station (明石駅前駅). It was renamed Akashi Station (明石駅) on August 19, 1923, and Dentetsu-Akashi Station (鉄明石駅) on November 20, 1943. It was renamed o its present name on April 7, 1991.
