È stata inaugurata il 15 dicembre 1984, contestualmente all'estensione della linea oltre la stazione Van Ness-UDC.[2]
La stazione è dotata di un parcheggio di scambio da oltre 1000 posti auto, e vi fermano autobus del sistema Metrobus (gestito dalla WMATA) e del sistema Ride On.

North Bethesda station is a rapid transit station on the Red Line of the Washington Metro in North Bethesda, Maryland. The North Bethesda station was opened on December 15, 1984, as White Flint and is operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA).
