Lines
Ōhara Station is served by the JR East Sotobō Line and the Isumi Railway Company Isumi Line. Limited express Wakashio services from Tokyo to Awa-Kamogawa stop at this station. It is located 57.2 km from the starting point of the Sotobō Line at Chiba Station, and forms the eastern terminus of the 26.8 kilometer Isumi Line.
Station layout
The JR East station consists of one side platform and an island platform serving three tracks. The station has a Midori no Madoguchi staffed ticket office. The Isumi Railway has a single bay platform serving two tracks. The two station buildings are adjacent and are connected together.

History
Ōhara Station opened on December 13, 1899, as the terminal station of the Bōsō Railway.[1] On September 1, 1907, the Bōsō Railway was nationalized and became part of the Japanese Government Railways, which became the Japanese National Railways (JNR) after World War II.
Freight operations were discontinued from February 1, 1984.[1] The station was absorbed into the JR East network upon the privatization of JNR on April 1, 1987.[1] On March 24, 1988, the Kihara Line was split off from the JR East network to be operated by the third-sector Isumi Railway.[2]
Passenger statistics
In fiscal 2019, JR East's Ōhara Station was used by an average of 1,402 passengers daily (boarding passengers only).[3] In fiscal 2018, the Izumi Railway portion of the station was used by an average of 324 passengers daily.[4]
