Kamiyonai Station is served by the Yamada Line, and is located 9.9 kilometers from the terminus of the line at Morioka Station.

Kamiyonai Station has two opposed side platforms connected to the station building by a level crossing. The station is staffed.

History
Kamiyonai Station opened on 10 October 1923.[1] The station was absorbed into the JR East network upon the privatization of the Japanese National Railways (JNR) on 1 April 1987.[1]

In fiscal 2015, the station was used by an average of 76 passengers daily (boarding passengers only).[2]
