Kaga-Kasama Station is served by the Hokuriku Main Line, and is 162.8 kilometers from the start of the line at Maibara.

Kaga-Kasama Station opened on 1 August 1923. With the privatization of Japanese National Railways (JNR) on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR West.
In fiscal 2015, the station was used by an average of 1,552 passengers daily (boarding passengers only).[1]
