The station is built on a bridge over the railway situated in a cutting. It was built for the 1900 Exposition Universelle. The building is a metal structure filled in with plain bricks on the lower part and decor on the top part. Stone was used to build retainer walls along the two platforms of the station.

Javel is now a station on the RER C line of the Paris express suburban rail system.

Der Bahnhof Javel (französisch: Gare de Javel) ist ein Bahnhof des Pariser Schnellbahnnetzes RER. Er wird von der RER-Linie C seit 1979 bedient. Er wurde zur Inbetriebnahme der Ligne des Invalides von Versailles bis zum Gare d’Orsay im Jahre 1900, von der Compagnie de l’Ouest, eröffnet. Die Strecke ist in diesem Abschnitt in einem Einschnitt gelegen, sodass keine Bahnübergänge benötigt werden. Ursprünglich hieß der Bahnhof Pont Mirabeau.
