Guwahati Silchar Express is an Express train belonging to Northeast Frontier Railway zone of Indian Railways that connects the largest city of Assam & largest city in Barak Valley of Assam, that is, Guwahati and Silchar.[1] This train is a replacement of previous train, Guwahati Silchar Passenger Special, for the same route & on the same timings. The train makes its main halt at Badarpur Junction & Lumding Junction for 25 mins & loco/rake reversals also takes place in this Stations. The train runs with SGUJ/WDP-4 & NGC/WDM-3A/Twins.

This train was inaugurated on 1 February 2018, from Guwahati flagged off by Piyush Goyal, Minister of Railways for more connectivity between Silchar and Guwahati.[2]
Frequency of this train is tri-weekly and it covers a distance of 379 km (235 mi) with an average speed of 31 km/h (19 mph) on both sides.
This train passes through Chaparmukh Junction, Hojai, Lumding Junction, Maibang, Mahur, New Haflong, Badarpur Junction & Katakhal Junction on both sides.
As the route is going to be electrified an WDM-3D/ Twins loco pulls the train to its destination on both sides.
