La stazione della metropolitana si trova sul percorso della linea M2, mentre quella della HÉV è il capolinea della linea H5 che giunge fino alla cittadina di Szentendre.

Entrambe sono situate sotto l'omonima piazza, intitolata al cancelliere Lajos Batthyány, e si trova di fronte al Parlamento ungherese sulla sponda opposta del fiume Danubio.

La stazione della metropolitana aprì i battenti nel 1973, in contemporanea con l'estensione della linea M2 fino a Déli pályaudvar.

Batthyány tér (Batthyány Square) is a station on the M2 (East-West) line of the Budapest Metro. It is located under Batthyány Square in Buda, immediately on the right bank of the Danube river. Next to the station, there is the southern terminus of the Szentendre HÉV suburban railway. The station was open on 22 December 1972 as part of the extension of the line from Deák Ferenc tér to Déli pályaudvar.[1]
