This station was previously known as Chang'an railway station. On 1 July 2006, it was renamed Xi'an South.[1]
There are suggestions to rename it to Xi'an Yinzhen railway station in future, in order to avoid confusion with the new high-speed rail Xi'an South railway station.[2]
The station itself is rather small, with only a one-storey terminal building and a front square. The ticket office is located on the east side of the station.[3]
A new high-speed rail station also called Xi'an South will be built in Cepo (侧坡), southwest of Chang'an District.[4]
