The Cercanías Bilbao commuter railway network (operated by Renfe) also has a Peñota station on its C1 line, but they are not at the same location – there is a distance of about 950 metres (1,040 yd) between them.
Peñota station follows the typical cavern-shaped layout of most underground Metro Bilbao stations designed by Norman Foster, with the main hall located directly above the rail tracks. Alongside Indautxu, Peñota is one of the few stations in the network to incorporate an underground commercial gallery.
The station is served by Line 2 to Basauri and Kabiezes with services around seven to ten minutes.[3]
