Haltern am See station is a station in the town of Haltern am See in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia on Wanne-Eickel–Hamburg railway from Wanne-Eickel to Hamburg. It is the northern terminus of Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn line S 9.[4]

It was opened in 1870.[5] It is served by the Rhein-Haard-Express (RE 2), the Niers-Haard-Express (RE 42) and S-Bahn line S 9, each hourly.[4]
Passengers with reduced mobility, strollers or heavy luggage should take note that the station does not have any elevators. With many trains arriving at platform 2, this means going down 20 steps, crossing and then ascending 20 steps.

Haltern am See ist ein Bahnhof in der Stadt Haltern am See im nordrhein-westfälischen Kreis Recklinghausen. Die Betriebsstelle liegt am Streckenkilometer 26,0 der Hauptstrecke von Wanne-Eickel Hauptbahnhof nach Hamburg Hauptbahnhof (VzG-Strecke 2200) und war ehemals Ausgangspunkt der Zweigstrecke über Büderich nach Venlo (VzG-Strecke 2202). Beide Strecken zusammen sind als Hamburg-Venloer Bahn bekannt, welche bis zum Zweiten Weltkrieg von internationalen Schnellzügen befahren wurde, die auch Station in Haltern machten. Darüber hinaus wurde im Bahnhof Haltern bis zur Jahrtausendwende die Vorsortierung von Güterzügen in Richtung Ruhrgebiet vorgenommen. Seit 1998 ist er zudem in das Netz der S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr integriert.- [en] Haltern am See station
