Berlin-Karow station is a railway station on the Berlin–Szczecin railway in the Pankow district of Berlin. It is served by the S-Bahn line and the line NE27 (also known as the Heidekrautbahn), operated by the Niederbarnimer Eisenbahn.

2009 Train Collision


On 17 April 2009, twenty-four people were injured when a regional train from Stralsund, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, crashed into a freight train carrying propane, north of Berlin.[3] The passengers and railway staff were hurt in the accident which took place 250m outside of Berlin-Karow railway station.[4] Nine of the injured,[5] five of them in critical condition, were taken to nearby hospitals.[3]

Der Bahnhof Berlin-Karow ist ein Bahnhof im gleichnamigen Berliner Ortsteil Karow des Bezirks Pankow. Er wird im bahnamtlichen Betriebsstellenverzeichnis als BKAR (Fernbahn) und für die S-Bahn als BKRW geführt. Die Gleise 3 und 4 dienen dem Personenverkehr der S-Bahn und den in Karow endenden Regionalzügen der Niederbarnimer Eisenbahn, während die Gleise 1 und 2 von der Fern- und Regionalbahn und für den Güterverkehr verwendet werden. Diese Gleise besitzen keine Bahnsteige und werden daher nur für Durchfahrten benutzt.
